The eighth Antalya Akra Jazz Festival launched with a standout performance by acclaimed French-Lebanese trumpet maestro Ibrahim Maalouf and his ensemble, The Trumpets of Michel-Ange.
The event took place under the stars at the open-air stage of Akra Antalya Hotel, drawing jazz enthusiasts from across Türkiye and beyond. Organized by Akra Hotels, the festival has become a celebrated cultural highlight in Antalya, uniting leading voices in jazz and world music.
Renowned for his genre-crossing compositions and vibrant performances, Maalouf addressed the crowd ahead of the concert, expressing his enthusiasm about returning to Antalya and promising an unforgettable evening—a promise he fulfilled.
Accompanied by a talented group of musicians, Maalouf performed some of his most beloved works, seamlessly fusing jazz with rock and traditional global sounds. The night was further elevated by Hafsatou Saindou, whose vibrant dances added color and rhythm to the performance, captivating the crowd.
The festival continues on May 16 with the “Akra Genc Caz” concert, featuring Alan, Blue Kiss Collective, and Emre Berk Trio—promising another evening of fresh, innovative jazz from Türkiye’s rising stars.
