Turkish football giant Fenerbahce has turned their attention to Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Asensio following the signing of Colombian striker Jhon Duran, sources reported Saturday.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the Istanbul club has entered negotiations with PSG over a potential loan deal for the 29-year-old Spanish midfielder. PSG are reportedly open to the move if Fenerbahce covers part of Asensio’s 14 million euros ($16.5 million) annual salary.
Asensio, who joined PSG from Real Madrid, spent part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 13 appearances in the Premier League, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
Marco Asensio Willemsen was born on January 21, 1996, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. A left-footed attacking midfielder, Asensio began his professional career at Mallorca before securing a move to Real Madrid in 2014. During his time in Madrid, he won three UEFA Champions League titles and three La Liga championships.
In 2023, he joined Paris Saint-Germain and is currently on loan at Premier League side Aston Villa as of 2025. Asensio has earned 38 caps for the Spanish national team, representing his country at both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
Renowned for his football intelligence and powerful long-range shooting, Asensio has made over 300 club appearances in his professional career.
